That being said, the narrator from The Black Cat and Fortunato from The cask of Amontillado are easily relatable to Poe. Secondly, Poe lived in poverty and wanted wealth. His nurse father was a besotted mad, but he did non share any of it with Poe. In The Black Cat, when the narrators house burns down, he must live in the cellar, which is considered as being very poor.
